Day 1: Chisinau
Arrive in Chisinau. Transfer from airport to your downtown hotel. Panoramic tour of this city, rich in Jewish sights, including the Monument to Pogrom Victims, Monument to Ghetto Prisoners, The Burial Place of Torah Scrolls desecrated during Pogrom of 1903, the Jewish Cemetery, Glaziers Synagogue, etc.
Day 2: Jewish Orhei / Old Orhei settlement / Cricova winery – wine tasting+lunch.
The ancient city Old Orhei - a unique natural and historical complex in the open air. It organically combines the natural landscape and vestiges of ancient civilizations. You will have the opportunity to visit the most interesting archaeological site housing the ruins of two cities (14th -16th century). .
In the modern city you will find one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in the South-Eastern Europe with unique monuments and gravestones dating back to ХVII and ХVIII centuries. Monument to Holocaust victims and synagogue are also worth to visit.
You will continue the journey by exploring another city, this time an underground one. Cricova Winery is the second largest underground winery in the world. There is an the exclusive “Easter Jewish Wine” bottle dated back to 1902, along with the greatest national and international wine collections, which you can admire traveling by car.
Day 3: Transnistria / Tiraspol & Bender city.
Full day trip to Tiraspol, Transnistria, at the present moment the administrative center of the self proclaimed Transnistria (Moldova). Feel the atmosphere of this disputed territory which always has been a battlefield between the major powers of the region. The buildings of the Soviets, the monument of Suvorov, Central Plaza. Jewish sights to visit in Tiraspol: “Hesed Hana” Synagogue and Jewish Center, Chabad Synagogue, Jewish Cemetery, etc. Jewish sights in Bender: Holocaust Monument, Jewish Cemetery in Benderi, Old Synagogue, etc.
Day 4: Soroca & Chateau Vartely winery – wine tasting+lunch.
This day you will travel to Soroca - the capital of Moldovan Gypsies. The symbol of the city is Soroca Fortress, a pearl of fortification art and one the most perfect castles in South-Eastern Europe. Jewish had also left their footprint here. You will visit the Hasidic Synagogue, Monument to Holocaust victims and one of the largest Jewish cemeteries in Moldova
On the way back you will have a stop at the best private wine factory in Moldova – Chateu Vertely! You will have the opportunity to taste a few high quality wines plus the famous Vartely - ICE Wine!
Day 5: Free day (shopping, souvenirs). Transfer to airport.
